Race for Promotion is on in Division 2
After building up a lead with some great away performances early in the season, Kilspindie have faltered at home recently dropping three points in their latest three fixtures. On Sunday they entertained Haddington, who kept their own slender hopes alive by earning a point in a tense finish with O’Neill and Higgin securing the vital half point in the deciding tie.
Meanwhile North Berwick fought hard away to the Glen, with the top two ties both coming from behind over the closing holes to secure the half points that were enough for a 3-2 win. Chris Wood’s outfit have taken three points from two away matches (before and after the Christmas break) to draw level at the top, and they are scheduled to visit Kilspindie in what will be a crunch match later this month.
Meanwhile Winterfield kept up their challenge on Sunday with a convincing home win over Gifford. They sit just one point behind and are at home again next Sunday and on 27th January. If they can win both of those matches they will most likely find themselves amongst the promotion places.
Glen and Haddington aren’t out of the race yet but both teams know they need a run of wins to finish their campaigns, as well as a little help from elsewhere.
