Longniddry and Tantallon prepare for promotion showdown
Tantallon moved into the promotion places with a solid home win against Kilspindie on Sunday. The in form pairing of Euan Bowden & Joe Lockie met spirited resistance from David Watters & Duncan Hamilton at the top of the order, but with victory already secured in the two ties that followed, the last green win for the home pair was enough to secure the points for their team.
Meanwhile Longniddry were too strong for Craigielaw and with a couple of big wins already in the bag it fell to Andy Brown & John Watt to deliver a home victory with their 17th green success. The 3½-1½ scoreline was enough to move the 2012 League champions into top spot.
And that sets up a mouthwatering clash on 4th January when these two teams face each other in what looks set to be a promotion decider. Longniddry will perhaps start as slight favourites with home advantage, but they can expect a strong challenge.
But before then Haddington have the opportunity to return to the top. They travel to Musselburgh Old this Sunday 21st December knowing a win will see them nose ahead once more in the title race.
